What is Teen Teaches Text?
As the second initiative of Positive I, Teen Teaches Text is our way of further understanding our own identity and purpose through utilizing a key part of the teen and Gen Z identity, our understanding of technology! Discovering and understanding one's identity and place in the world can be incredibly daunting. Often we don't even realize that we as young people were born with a gift that other generations were not. We have lived our entire lives with technology! With that experience comes an understanding and level of skill in the usage of technology, and with that wisdom, we can teach other generations how to understand and connect using text, something that is so easy for us. With the Teen Teaches Text initiative, we will be providing FREE 30-minute long texting courses to Seniors to bridge the generational gap and allow for young people to share their understanding of technology that has played a role in our teen identity!
The Teen Teaches Text course is 30 minutes long and will walk you through the basics of texting. You will begin by learning about why texting is useful and how it can benefit you in connecting with Family, Friends, and the world around you! We will then share with you what you can include in texts, how long they should be, and some tools you can use while texting, including text abbreviations and emojis! Lastly, we will share two alternatives to traditional texting in order to provide you with options you can choose from that work for you. The course is completely FREE and will be delivered over zoom or in-person by our Founder, Nicole Munoz.
